The swift rise of consumer virtual reality (VR) combined with recent advances in VR camera technologies presents us with an opportunity to experience the world in a new way. With an increasing ability to hack our sensory experience, VR has the potential to rapidly and powerfully shift human consciousness toward new horizons. ECOVR is about harnessing the power of new immersive technologies to transport viewers on a journey that brings wild nature to life in the most vivid and engaging way possible.
This unique approach is guided by:
advancing research on the benefits of restorative environments
best-practice in the design of comfortable 3D VR content
the ethical use of emerging technologies
the promotion of psychological wellbeing
Virtual Reality therapies have the potential to reduce reliance on medication and improve quality of life. ECOVR is currently working with a number of medical, healthcare and university partners around the world to provide exclusive premium VR content. Activations include psychological research at Stanford University, clinical trials in Oncology (San Diego), The Royal Childrens Hospital (Melbourne), Aged and Residential Care institutions, Outpatient clinics, environmental events, film festivals, Meta Quest and corporate wellness programs.
ECOVR is a not-for-profit initiative founded in 2016 by James Donald, a virtual reality filmmaker using immersive media technologies to support mental health and wellbeing and connect audiences to real nature experiences via cinematic presentation. With a professional and academic background in psychology, elearning and medical software, James also currently runs a production company (Stokefarm Productions) specialising in stereoscopic 3D 360° and 180° film format post-production for health-based and commercial VR film projects, providing essential stitching and stereoscopic production skills exclusively to some of the best Meta Quest TV productions in recent years, including: OCEANIA VR, Alex Honnold: The Soloist VR, Tested VR series 1-4, Ecosphere, Tokyo Origami, Matterhorn The Edge VR, Serengeti River Crossing VR and the Chris Hemsworth experience by HugoBoss.
